11:09 p.m. - 2007-01-08 on being an adult Self-Portrait Challenge, New Years Resolutions: I want to learn to dress like a professional. ADULT.
I've always had my own sense of .... style. If you can call what I have style. I wear whatever appeals to me - some days that could mean a mini skirt with cowboy boots, or a granny dress and cardigan, or a striped shirt covered in skulls and my vans. It all depends on my mood. I'm completely in love with bobby pins. At the end of the day I will find seven or eight of them tossed randomly into my hair. I love anything from my grandmother's closet - big blocky purses, little flats, sweater tights, cardigans, polka dot dresses. None of which is really very ... professional. And starting next week I'm going to spend the majority of my time wearing clothing that is appropriate for a lawyer's office. (basically nothing in my closet)
Tonight I went through everything I owned and was surprised and delighted to discover two whole outfits that may be work wearable. Wow. WOW. What the hell am I going to do?
Analise, my six-year-old, recounted this story to me today: "All of my friends at school think you look like a teenager. I TOLD them it's because you are in between the teenager and grown-up age right now." Oy vay. This is me. Geek-Betty. Perpetual slob and quirky dress. Moving into the grown-up age. before//after previously... this weeks to do list - 2007-09-24 a fool on any given sunday - 2007-09-23 annacquato - 2007-09-22 being a cheerleaders mom - 2007-09-21 I am a ray of sunshine - 2007-09-21 |
